The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

Isaiah 58: 11

There is a point to these words, and that point is trust and reliance. We live in a world where the sun is always high in the sky, and its heat burns with an unceasing relentlessness. Isaiah is referring to the way that opposition and trials have of baking all of the life out of people so that we start to feel completely depleted of strength and weak to the very center of our being.

We have a basic need to find water and shade; we also require the strength that comes from good food, and a time of meditation and quiet conversation with God. So, the Lord leads me to His word, and His Spirit speaks truth to my weary soul, and I am well fed from His garden. The Lord covers me with the shade of His love and grace until my strength is restored.

When I keep seeking God’s way through my day, He never fails to show me a path that keeps me close to His protection; thus, there is always food, water, and shelter near by. Additionally, The Spirit of God stays with me through every step of my journey, and He is my unending, never failing source of the true water of life; so, as I seek my way through this day, thirst will not overcome me.
