For the Lord is righteous; He loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold His face.

Psalm 11: 7

Righteous is right living; thinking and acting in a way that does not hold me up as superior to others and that does recognize the rights of others to be treated with fairness, compassion, and respect. Righteous is the essential nature of God, and it is balanced with His all-encompassing love to make His interaction with everyone perfectly just and absolutely valid.

Like a parent with a beloved child, God enjoys those times when we choose to model ourselves after Him and treat others with the sort of honesty and understanding that He gives to us. The Lord wants us to bring His nature to life and to enact His will in our world; when we act as loving speakers of God’s truth and when we do it so that others will come to know Him, we are living in the center of God’s righteous will.

In a world that is filled with obscured values and confusing messages about what is right and how we should treat each other, the Lord wants us to be able to see clearly, and He provides us with the view point where that clarity is real. The word of God and the voice of His Spirit in conjunction with the wisdom that He gives to His human body provide us with a solid place to stand, and as we seek to do the Lord’s will by treating others in a righteous manner, the obscuring mist of murky values and confused ethics is blown away so that the glow of His righteousness fills our gaze.
